Mar 10, 2024 – May 20, 2024: IFSSH/IFSHT 2025 in DC

Dear member of the HUE Academy,

We personally invite you to join our faculty for the upcoming IFSSH-IFSHT Congress, which is being hosted by the United States in Washington, DC from March 24-28, 2025. It’s the first time the U.S. is hosting this meeting in more than three decades, and we’re looking for your expertise to help craft an incredible program and show the world what we can do.

We know your schedule is busy with family, work, and travel, but this opportunity to host an international meeting right here at home won’t come again anytime soon. We’ve put together a unique program that offers hundreds of slots and plenty of opportunities to share your work. Abstracts are due soon, on May 20, 2024.

We ask that you submit a proposal and join us in Washington. The IFSSH and IFSHT are counting on the United States to produce an unforgettable meeting, and we’d like you to be a part of it.

Apr 11, 2022: Webinar April 11, 2022 Targeted UE Rehab Strategies for Infants & Toddlers

Sue Duff MPT, EdD, OT/L, CHT will present Targeted UE Rehab Strategies for Infants & Toddlers on Monday April 11, 2022.

The webinar is from 8:00 to 9:00 pm ET  Registrants can earn 1.0 contact hours of Continuing Education.

Based on the evidence, engaging, activity-based treatment options may be the most effective means of fostering recovery in infants and toddlers with neurological conditions. Targeted strategies promoting self-generated action may best improve outcomes. The speaker will begin this webinar with a review of select problems linked to hand and arm dysfunction in infants and toddlers, presenting with peripheral nerve or other neurological conditions. The session will progress to a review of novel treatment methods focusing on low-cost and technology-based options used to foster motor learning and prehensile skill. While promising, some programs require further investigation before implementation into home-based or clinic programs. The session will end with a group discussion to critically assess the interventions reviewed and alternatives, with regard to timing, intensity and the ability to address key clinical problems.

Feb 26, 2022 – Mar 23, 2022: Webinar March 23rd Thumb CMC Arthritis

2022 Webinar Series launches Wednesday March 23rd  from 8:00-9:00pm ET

Thumb CMC Arthritis: Conservative Hand Therapy  with   Stacy Hite, PT, DPT, MS, CHT

Pain that limits hand function affects crucial self-care tasks, independence, and participation in activities for pleasure and recreation. Being over 40 years old is a risk factor for developing thumb CMC pain. Up to 1 of 3 post-menopausal women have symptoms due to thumb CMC arthritis. Chances are clients you are treating for other diagnoses have this painful, limiting condition. This webinar will give you knowledge and tools for initial conservative treatment for thumb CMC arthritis, thus providing an opportunity for further improving the quality of life for your clients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will be able to

  • Identify dynamic and static stabilizers of the thumb CMC joint
  • Identify deforming forces at the thumb CMC joint and interventions for preventing these factors
  • Prescribe a conservative management program including home modalities for pain, appropriate orthoses and appropriate neuromuscular reeducation activities for dynamic stabilization.
